Children’s Society - Spring 2016
This year’s box donations totalled £513.96. Although the amount is lower than our magnificent contributions over the previous five years, this is unsurprising as the list of box-holders is sadly decreasing, in line with a national trend. In earlier years, despite fluctuations, I was counting the contents of approximately forty boxes whereas now we number less than 30 – but a very generous 30! With this in mind, if anyone is interested in having a box at home or work to collect their loose change, please do contact me.
The Children’s Society is a national charity that runs local projects across England, helping children and young people when they are at their most vulnerable. In the South & South West area alone the Society supported 27 projects and helped 12,590 children last year.
A final few words from Matthew Reed, Chief Executive: ‘On behalf of the thousands of children whose lives have been transformed by our services, I would like to extend my warmest thanks to you for being a Box Holder. Every penny you collect in your box really does make a difference, and enables us to be there for the young people who need us most.’
Thank you. Peta Thornton (Tel. 8064 3596)
